Why Canada ?

Canada is the second-largest country in the world and is also one of the most remarkable in terms of geographical diversity. It is a destination filled with numerous advantages for those wishing to study there :

  • Quality and standard of living among the highest in the world
  • Educational system recognized for its excellence and compatibility with our European systems
  • Friendliness and hospitality of its population
  • Cultural richness
  • Safe environment and breathtaking landscapes

The United States and Canada are vast countries where geographical distances are very significant. Cars are the primary means of transportation, and public transit networks are generally underdeveloped, except in some large metropolitan areas. International students coming from Europe, where public transport networks are more developed, will need to adapt to this difference when studying in North America. They may need to reconsider their travel habits by planning their journeys based on the available transportation options.

Our partner schools are located in the communities of Dauphin, Roblin, Grandview, and Gilbert Plains. These small towns offer a warm welcome to international students, who quickly become an integral part of community life.

The schools

The Mountain View School division covers a significant geographical area in the heart of the vast meadows of Manitoba. It includes 17 schools, including 4 high schools (Grades 9 to 12). The schools are small in size, which is ideal for receiving personalized attention, quickly integrating, and making friends.

Canadian youth typically study for a minimum of 12 years, similar to our system. This program offers foreign students the opportunity to attend a local public high school. In the Canadian province of Manitoba, the primary and secondary school system is divided into three cycles: Early Years (Grades 1 to 4, ages 6 to 10), Middle Years (Grades 5 to 8, ages 10 to 14), and Senior Years (Grades 9 to 12, ages 14 to 18). High School encompasses the 4 years of the Senior Years, which corresponds to upper secondary education.

The school year is divided into two semesters. As an international student, you can join a class for either one semester or a full school year.

There are two different school systems in Canada : the semester system and the linear system. In the semester system, students take 4 courses in the first semester and 4 other courses in the second semester, while in the linear system, students take 8 courses throughout the year.

In many Canadian schools, there is a large variety of subjects to choose from. It’s a unique opportunity to discover new fields or to further develop a favorite subject.

Some courses are offered for one semester, giving students the opportunity to switch subjects midway through the year.

The choice is equally important in sports, cultural, and social activities. School will be a unique opportunity to flourish in subjects and activities previously unknown. It will also be the perfect opportunity to integrate into Canadian life and get to know young people your age.

Canadians are known for their hospitality, tolerance, and open-mindedness.

Families are carefully selected by the district’s accommodation service based on their genuine desire to host a young foreigner and share their culture through daily life. This service visits the homes of families and ensures they can provide the participant with a balanced and nurturing environment.

The local coordinator is an experienced individual who knows the host families and schools well. They regularly meet with international students to ensure everything is going smoothly.

They are available to answer any questions that may arise once you are there, can assist you with various procedures, and are able to respond quickly in case of any issues. They will be your main point of contact on site.

Additionally, you will be provided with an emergency contact number that you can use to reach someone locally in case of urgent problems.

To ensure your stay goes smoothly and to inform you about various aspects of the program, you will have the opportunity to attend an information and orientation meeting organized by Easy Language in Brussels, at the end of May or beginning of June. This meeting allows Easy Language students to meet each other, exchange questions and experiences, and interact with the Easy Language team. It is also where the final administrative formalities are initiated.

If you do not reside in Belgium, we can organize an online connection for you to attend the meeting live.

A second orientation will take place in Canada shortly after your arrival. You will be contacted by your local coordinator, who will be able to answer all your questions regarding your stay and its progression.
