This programme is for young people aged 16 to 18 who want to study with British students at a state-of-the-art English college located on a large campus in the heart of the New Forest.

Brockenhurst
Located in the county of Hampshire in the south of England, Brockenhurst is the largest village in the New Forest National Park , with a population of around 3,500, and is just a short distance from the town of Lymington. The National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. The magnificent landscapes, wildlife and typical villages add a special atmosphere to this region. The town enjoys the mild climate of the south coast and the most sunshine in the country. However, Brockenhurst is not isolated from the rest of England: London and Oxford are 90 minutes away by train, and Bournemouth and Southampton are 20 minutes away.
The Brockenhurst College campus covers almost 11 hectares, providing a pleasant and safe environment in which to study and relax. The college welcomes 6,000 UK and international 6th Form students each year to one of its many academic and vocational courses. For the past 10 years, the college has been rated as an Ofsted Outstanding School for the very high success rate of its students in A Level examinations.

From the age of 16 and after taking the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education), British students can choose either to take A Levels during their last 2 years of secondary school if they wish to go on to university, or to choose a vocational course, called a Vocational Course, which prepares them for a BTEC diploma, enabling them to enter the world of work. Diplomas are awarded in 2 years (A Level) or 2/3 years (Vocational courses). Whichever course is chosen, personal study and research are very important, and students must devote at least 4/5 hours per week to each subject.
This combination of formal courses and personal research is an excellent preparation for university studies.

You can choose between several programmes, depending on your age, your level of English, your objectives and the length of the programme you would like. All programmes require a good academic level.

This highly flexible programme allows you to study from one academic term to one academic semester with British students and experience life at an English college.
The programme consists of :
- 15 to 20 lessons (A Level or Vocational) per week
- 3 subjects to choose from a selection of over 40 options: Archaeology, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Business, English language & Literature, Communication & Culture, Psychology…
- 3 hours of English per week with other international students
- 2 enrichment classes per week: list in the “extra-curricular activities” section
Minimum level of English required: B1/B2
A Levels are taken over 2 years. Students choose 3 subjects from a wide selection (over 40 options) to study over the 2 years. It is also possible to study your mother tongue as an additional subject if it is available.

Each subject represents around 4h30 of lessons per week and an equivalent amount of personal study and research time.
International students also take 3 hours of English per week until they achieve an IELTS score of 6.5.

2-year course leading to a BTEC Level 3 Diploma.
Approximately 15 hours of lessons per week in the chosen subject: Art & Design; Business; Children’s Play, Learning & Development; Engineering; Health & Social Care; Information & Technology; Media; Music; Performing Arts; Photography; Sport; Sport and Exercise Science; Travel & Tourism, Uninformed Public Services.
The courses include company visits. Personal work (at home or in the college library) is required outside class.

If you have a particular passion – sport, art or something else – you can take part in an academy, a programme that allows you to combine your studies with what you’re really passionate about. Additional fees apply and admission is not guaranteed: a dossier, portfolio or selection tests may be required, and the final decision rests with the academy manager.
Aspire Academy is here to help you develop your potential and give you the academic support you need to achieve your goals.
You’ll take part in workshops, lectures and other activities, in groups or individually. You’ll also be part of a special Aspire tutorial group.
Everything is designed to help you deepen your knowledge, strengthen your skills, build your confidence and grow as a person.
The Performing Arts and Music Academy gives you even more opportunities to develop your talents in music, dance, theatre and singing. You’ll have the chance to improve your performance skills alongside other enthusiasts, in a stimulating environment, to prepare you for a professional or semi-professional level.
Specialist music teachers are on hand at the college for one-to-one tuition. You will also be able to take level examinations in your instrument or singing (at an additional cost). At Brock, you will benefit from an ideal environment for a truly high-level artistic experience.

Brockenhurst College has excellent exam results in science subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths), thanks in large part to the opportunities offered by their STEM Academy.
In recent years, almost 52% of their students have gone on to study at a Russell Group university, which is testament to the high level of support offered.

You register for the STEM Academy at your admissions appointment. Once accepted, you will have to take part in a programme of specific activities and at least one STEM outing per year.

Thanks to the Sports Academy at Brockenhurst College, you can continue to play your favourite sport while continuing your studies. The programme is designed to help you progress as an athlete in your chosen discipline, while maintaining a good balance with your academic career.

Each team trains twice a week at the campus facilities, and competes at departmental, regional and national level throughout the season.
Training sessions and matches are carefully planned to fit in with your school timetable, so that you can give your all to your sport without compromising your studies.
Women’s football
If you’re an ambitious female footballer, this is the programme for you. In partnership with AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust, it allows you to combine a solid academic background with high-quality sports training in a professional environment.
Basketball
Join the Basketball Academy to progress under the guidance of coaches with national and international experience. Teams have achieved excellent results in competition, and some players have even been spotted internationally, such as at the Impact Basketball Academy in Las Vegas.
Football
Train in a high-level environment with FA-qualified coaches. The college’s five teams compete in the Hampshire University Championships, as well as regional and national competitions.
Netball
Improve your technique, team play and fitness while having fun. The Netball Academy allows you to play in the Hampshire University Championships and to take part in regional and national competitions.
Rugby
Brock Rugby Academy is renowned for its fast, structured and committed game. You’ll benefit from high quality, intensive training, with regular league and cup matches against some excellent teams.
Single room, shared bathroom, half board during the week, full board at weekends
Journey time to school: approximately 30/50 minutes by train/bus or on foot. Families live in the various villages around the school. Students can specify their preferred areas in their application, but the school generally places students according to their personality and compatibility with the host family rather than the location itself.

Do you meet the conditions for taking part?
- Fill in the pre-registration form as soon as possible
- When we receive it, we’ll send you a provisional confirmation, including the total cost of the stay, a request for payment of €100 (for the language test and motivation interview), and the full application form for the chosen programme. We will also ask you to send us a copy of your school reports for the last 3 years.
- We then invite you to come and take the language test and interview at our offices in Brussels or online. This costs €100 and is payable on receipt of the pre-confirmation. This amount is non-refundable, but can be deducted from the balance of your stay if you are definitively enrolled and accepted on the programme. Part 1 of the application form must be completed and brought with you to the interview.
- We will confirm the result no later than 8 days after our interview
- If the interview is positive, we ask you to pay a deposit of 25% of the total cost of your stay (with a minimum of €1,800) and to complete all the elements of your application, including letters of recommendation from your teachers and other information needed for us to study your application on site. As soon as your application is complete and we have received payment of the deposit, we will forward it to our partner.
- Final acceptance to the programme is given by the college after studying your application and a telephone interview. You will be accepted on the courses of your choice according to availability, your level of English, your previous academic record (the College requires good marks in the subjects you wish to study) and the date of enrolment.
Your place is guaranteed as soon as you receive the College’s letter of acceptance.
The application deadlines are :
- 5 July for the September intake
- 5 November for the start of the school year in January
After these dates, applications will be examined on a case-by-case basis. A late enrolment fee of €250 will be applied.
You will be accepted on the courses of your choice according to availability, your level of English, your previous academic record (the College requires good marks in the subjects you wish to study) and the date of enrolment.
The exact dates of arrival and departure will be given to you once your enrolment has been confirmed by the College.
Note: do not book your travel ticket until we have confirmed your stay.
Conditions for entering the United Kingdom
- Stay of less than 6 months
European Union citizens can travel to the United Kingdom without a visa if their stay does not exceed 6 months. They must bring a passport valid for the duration of their stay.
Travellers must apply for an ETA (electronic travel authorisation).
- Stays of more than 6 months
All stays of more than 6 months require a visa. Visa applicants are required to provide a Confirmation of Acceptance for Sudies (CAS), issued by our partner school, in order to apply for a visa.
For students aged between 14 and 17 you must also:
- Be able to prove that you will have sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in the UK
- Have the consent of your parent or legal guardian to study in the UK. Proof will be required
For students over the age of 16 you must also:
- Have a minimum certified level of English B1
Medical/accident/repatriation and civil liability insurance is compulsory for this type of stay. You will be asked for a certificate when you submit your application.
