Brighton

Nicknamed the “London-by-the-sea,” the city of Brighton is the most famous seaside resort in the United Kingdom, as well as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in England. Resolutely young and vibrant, it offers all the distractions of a major modern city: trendy bars, clubs, and restaurants, a variety of shows and concerts, diverse shops and stores, all while providing an excellent quality of life. This is precisely why many Londoners have chosen to make it their home, being only an hour away by train from the capital.

Our partner school, EC, is located in the heart of Brighton, just a short walk from Brighton Pier, the beach, and the Lanes, with chic vintage boutiques as well as restaurants, cafes and bars galore. The Royal Pavilion is just five minutes away. EC Brighton is a big, modern school with excellent facilities.

the EC teaching methode

The school has developed pedagogical methods focused on the practical use of English in daily life. The four skills of speaking, writing, reading, and listening are addressed, with particular emphasis on conversation, grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and pronunciation.

The goal is to teach you today’s English language so that you can communicate and be understood by everyone by the end of your language stay. Each lesson will be based on a specific theme or topic.

The teaching resources used are specially designed by EC, supplemented by other materials such as newspapers, videos, or other audio documents.

Teachers provide guidance and encouragement throughout the stay, while ensuring a balance between learning and enjoyment. It is important to create a pleasant atmosphere and mutual trust in the classroom. Since practice is the best way to progress in language learning, you will be actively engaged during classes.

20 lessons per week

4 lessons a day will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. See your confidence improve as EC trains you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Visa Information

Autorisation de sortie de territoire pour les mineurs

The authorization to leave the country is mandatory for unaccompanied minors by a person holding parental authority. It must be presented by minors at the borders along with their identification documents (passport or identity card) and a photocopy of one of their parent’s identity card.

Belgian underage travelers

When a minor child travels abroad alone or with someone other than their parents, it is necessary to obtain a “parental authorization” confirming the parents’ consent for the specific trip.

This document can be obtained from your municipality.

French underage travelers

The authorization for a minor to leave the country (AST) unaccompanied by a person holding parental authority has been reinstated since January 15, 2017. AST forms are available on the Service Public website.

More information: Service public.

The unaccompanied minor must therefore present the following three documents:

  • Minor’s identification document: ID card or passport
  • AST signed by one of the parents holding parental authority
  • Photocopy of the identity document of the signing parent

Starting from late 2024

(date not confirmed by the United Kingdom at this time)

An AVE is an Electronic Travel Authorization that allows travel to the United Kingdom and applies to travelers who do not require a visa for short stays.

An AVE costs £10 per applicant and is valid for two years, as long as the associated passport is still valid. A new passport will require a new AVE application.

AVEs can be used for multiple visits to the UK by using ePassport gates or by a Border Force officer, although they do not guarantee entry into the country.

Applicants can easily complete an AVE application on the UK ETA app or online on the government’s official website. Confirmation of the AVE is received within 3 business days.

Travelers whose application has been approved will receive confirmation via email, and the AVE will be electronically linked to the passport used for the application, which will also be required for travel.
