Heidelberg is a charming university town that is still one of Germany’s most pleasant cities, attracting many visitors from Germany and abroad who come to visit its famous castle and enjoy the beauty of the city and its surroundings. The atmosphere of this student city is particularly pleasant in summer, when young people enjoy the sunshine on the terraces in the historic centre and along the banks of the river.

Our partner school in Heidelberg is located in the very centre of the city, in the heart of the university district, 200 metres on foot from the river and around 1.5 km from the castle.

The school has excellent public transport links throughout the city and welcomes students of over 50 different nationalities all year round. Shops, restaurants and public services are located nearby.

German courses: general information

  • Length of lesson: 45 minutes
  • Maximum number of students per class: 15
  • Timetable: courses are generally given in the morning, but can also be organised in the afternoon in high season
  • Placement test: on the first day of the course
  • Certificate of attendance at the end of the course
  • Regular assessment of your progress
  • Teachers are qualified to teach their language to foreigners

20 lessons of general German per week

You will have lessons from Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 12.15pm.

You will develop the 4 basic skills of written and oral expression, listening comprehension and reading.

Levels offered: beginner to advanced (A1 – C2)

Intensive course

30 German lessons per week

In addition to the standard programme, you will take 10 lessons per week, to be chosen according to your level between the 3 modules offered:

– Grammar: levels A1 to B2
– Conversation: from level B1
– Preparation for TestDaF exams: from level C1

You will have lessons from Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 12.15pm and from 1.00pm to 2.30pm.

The school organises cultural activities every week, which you are free to take part in or not. These activities may be free or at cost, and their frequency varies according to the time of year (up to 10 per week in summer, 5 the rest of the year). They also organise day trips at weekends.

  • Guided tours of Heiligenberg, the Philosophers’ Path, the Bismarck Tower, castles, etc.

Travel time to school :

Families are generally located in a residential area within 20 to 50 minutes of the school by public transport.

  • Zone A: between 20 and 30 minutes from the school by public transport
  • Zone B: maximum 50 minutes from the school by public transport

Session starts for non-beginners Courses start every Monday throughout the year. If Monday is a public holiday, the session starts on Tuesday.

Start dates for complete beginners: 08.01, 05.02, 04.03, 08.04, 06.05, 03.06, 01.07, 15.07, 05.08, 19.08, 02.09, 07.10, 04.11, 02.12.

Public holidays and holidays: 01.01, 06.01, 29.03, 01.04, 01.05, 09.05, 20.05, 03.10, 01.11, 25.12, 26.12, 27.12 – 29.12.

*Lessons may be made up by attending one of the afternoon modules or evening classes. Students should make their request in writing at least one day before the public holiday, by 2.30pm.
