Our partner school is located right in the centre of Antwerp, in the lively university district, just a 5-minute walk from the historic centre, the shopping district and trendy boutiques, as well as the botanical gardens and central park. There are numerous cafés, restaurants and bars nearby. It has excellent public transport links (tram, metro, bus, train).

The school has developed a dynamic and interactive methodology which focuses on 2 main areas:

  • the acquisition of an excellent grammatical foundation and an extensive vocabulary
  • immersion in Dutch-speaking life through current affairs, role-playing (interviews, surveys, etc.) and the various media (television, radio, press, internet, etc.)

Different topics are dealt with each week, covering a wide range of areas: science, the press, communication, sports, identity, etc.

The school organises sports and cultural activities in the afternoons and evenings, in which you are free to participate or not. These activities are offered free of charge or at cost; their frequency varies according to the time of year.

Families live in residential areas of Antwerp, close to a bus, tram or metro line.

Note: Most host families accommodate several students and, as most participants are French-speaking, it is possible that several students will stay with the same family during their stay.

Journey time to the school: between 30 and 50 minutes by public transport

In Antwerp it’s very easy to get around by bike (“A-velo” self-service hire system).

Our partner school offers you an 18-week “Language Plan” stay at the best possible conditions in Belgium, with active assistance in organising the compulsory work placement (12 hours per semester)

You will have lessons every morning, Monday to Friday, from 9.00 to 12.30, during which you will develop the 4 basic skills: written and oral expression, written and oral comprehension. In addition, you will have 2 language workshops per week: “ILL (Intensive Language Learning)” from 13:30 to 15:00 (grammar or oral communication) 2 practical work sessions: “ILP (Interactive Language Project)”. Students choose their project according to their interests. The aim is to come into contact with the local population and to use the language in everyday situations inside and outside the school. The projects are supervised by a teacher. At the end of the programme, students give a presentation on the work they have done. This presentation is taken into account in the final exam.
