Montpellier

Situated in one of the most beautiful regions of southern France, between the sea and the mountains, Montpellier boasts an impressive historical and natural heritage. A thousand-year-old city with its sights firmly set on the future, Montpellier rivals the biggest cities in France. With a quarter of its population made up of students, 300 days of sunshine a year and long stretches of beach just a few kilometres from the centre, it is the ideal city for a language study holiday.

The summer centre for juniors is located on one of Montpellier’s most modern and innovative sites,“Creative Campus“, 1 place Niki de Saint Phalle. A true educational and creative centre with ultra-modern facilities. The classrooms and residence are in the same building. It is located around 30 minutes by bus or on foot from the historic centre of Montpellier and 10 minutes from the beaches.

A campus with exceptional facilities, including :

  • Bright, spacious and fully equipped classrooms
  • A large, secure outdoor area, used exclusively by the school, where students can have fun with their friends and relax in complete safety during breaks between classes
  • A canteen where students can eat lunch from Monday to Friday (homestays), or all meals (residence stays)
  • A cinema room
  • A sports hall

French lessons

15 French lessons per week

  • Length of lesson: 45 minutes
  • Maximum number of students per class: 15, 12 on average
  • Placement test: on the first day of the course
  • Certificate of attendance at the end of the course
  • Teachers are qualified to teach their mother tongue to foreigners
  • Levels offered : A1 (elementary) to B2 (upper intermediate)

Optional: possibility of completing the course with a module of 5 private lessons per week, if you wish to reinforce specific language skills.

Activities and excursions

Alongside the language courses, students take part in a full programme of cultural, sporting and leisure activities during the half-day and evenings. All activities are compulsory and fully supervised.

Shared room with a participant of another nationality and of the same sex, shared bathroom, full board

Breakfast and evening meal are taken with the host family. Weekday lunches are taken in the Junior Centre canteen. Students receive a packed lunch provided by the family for the Saturday excursion and lunch with the family on Sunday.

Journey time to school: between 5 and 30 minutes on foot, by tram or by bus

Host families take students to school and pick them up after activities every day. Staying with a host family is a good opportunity for students to discover the French way of life and to practise their French at mealtimes. Students must respect the habits of their host family.

Towels not provided: please bring your own towels and beach towel

Small individual studios and full board

The residence consists of small individual studios

Students have : 1 bed, 1 desk, 1 cupboard, 1 shower room, toilet

The residence includes: communal areas, a cinema room, a sports room and a fully secure outdoor area.

Meals are taken in the centre’s canteen. On excursion days, students receive a packed lunch provided by LSF/IEF.

24-hour supervision: the school’s activity leaders are housed in the residence and supervise the students at all times. There is a curfew every evening.

Travel

  • Day of arrival: Sunday
  • Day of departure: Saturday

Arrival station or airport :

  • Montpellier airport or stations (St-Roch and Sud de France)

Transfers:

  • If you are staying in a residence, a return transfer from the airport can be organised, on request (chargeable, see “Dates & Prices” tab). Extra charge for transfers between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
  • If you are staying with a host family, transfers from Montpellier station or airport are included in the price of your accommodation and paid for by the family if you arrive between 8.00 am and 10.00 pm. Outside these times, a transfer fee will be charged.

Note: do not book your transport ticket until we have confirmed your stay.

Authorisation to leave

With a host family:

After the afternoon and evening activities, students must return to their host family. When the school does not organise evening and Sunday activities, students must stay with their host family, whatever their age.

In residence:

After the afternoon and evening activities, students must return to the residence. When the school is not organising evening or weekend activities, students can spend their free time at the residence or walking around the city centre, but they must return to the residence by 23:00 at the latest. Students staying in residence are always accompanied to and from the city centre.

Public holidays: 14/07 and 15/08 (no lessons, but an activity is organised instead).

There will be no activities on 3 July (start of the programme) or on 19/08 (last day of the programme)
