Language holidays in Malta for 12-17 year olds

The island of Malta is situated in the middle of the Mediterranean and is an ideal place to study English in the summer. The island offers a Mediterranean climate, clear blue seas, a rich history, colourful landscapes, as well as numerous cafés and restaurants and a lively nightlife. St Paul’s Bay was once a small fishing village. Today it is Malta’s most beautiful seaside resort.

English is one of the island’stwo official languages (along with Maltese), a legacy of two centuries of British colonisation.

This junior programme is aimed at young people aged between 12 and 17 who want to improve their English in a pleasant and stimulating environment. It combines English lessons (every morning or afternoon from Monday to Friday) with fun activities in the afternoons and evenings, and residential accommodation.

Our partner school is recognised as one of the best English language schools in Malta.

Classes are held at St Martin’s College. The environment is specially adapted to encourage students to speak as much English as possible.

All the classrooms are air-conditioned and provide ideal comfort for learning. Academic supervisors are on hand if students have any academic concerns, such as lessons that are too easy, a level that is too high or if the student needs help with lessons.

Outside the classroom, monitors are on hand 24 hours a day to ensure that everything runs smoothly. They accompany students to lessons, supervise activities and live in the residence.

English lessons

20 lessons of 45 minutes each, i.e. 15 hours of lessons per week

Lessons take place in the morning or afternoon, with a break to ensure that students can concentrate throughout the day. All course material is included and distributed to students on their first day of class.

Classes are international: maximum 15 students per class

Classes are run by qualified and experienced teachers. On the first day of the course, a placement test is taken to determine the level of each participant.

Classes focus on oral practice to develop fluency and self-confidence. The teachers ensure that everyone participates.

On the last day of the programme, participants receive a level certificate attesting to their progress.

The programme includes (per week) :

  • 5 half-days of fun, sporting or cultural activities: beach, Valletta harbour cruise, Melliena Bay, beach BBQ, water games, visit to Mdina, etc.
  • Evenings: welcome party, talent show, karaoke, foam party, barbecue, cinema, Maltese evening in Valletta, etc.

All activities are supervised by the school’s monitors.

We offer participants the choice of staying with a host family or in a residence.

Whichever accommodation option is chosen, students are accompanied to school and activities by EC supervisors: a bus picks students up at meeting points in the morning, and drops them off in the evening after the activities.

Students stay in a hotel (Bella Vista* in St Paul’s Bay) or in the Campus Hub residence, depending on availability, in rooms with 2, 3 or 4 beds, full board and a bathroom in each room.

The young people are supervised by EC group leaders who live on site.
