Situated in one of the most beautiful regions of southern France, between the sea and the mountains, Montpellier boasts an impressive historical and natural heritage. A thousand-year-old city firmly focused on the future, Montpellier rivals France’s largest cities. With a quarter of its population made up of students, 300 days of sunshine a year and long stretches of beach just a few kilometres from the city centre, it is the ideal city for a language study holiday.

The summer centre for juniors is located on one of Montpellier’s most modern and innovative sites,“Creative Campus”, 1 Place Niki de Saint Phalle. A true hub of education and creativity with state-of-the-art facilities. The classrooms and accommodation are in the same building. It is located about 30 minutes by bus or on foot from Montpellier’s historic centre and 10 minutes from the beaches.

A campus with exceptional facilities, including:

  • Bright, spacious and fully equipped classrooms
  • A large, secure outdoor area for the school’s exclusive use, where students can socialise with their classmates and relax safely during breaks between lessons
  • A canteen where students have lunch from Monday to Friday (homestay accommodation), or all meals (residence accommodation)

  • A sports hall

French lessons

20 French lessons per week

  • Lesson duration: 45 minutes
  • Maximum number of students per class: 15 (average 12)
  • Placement test: on the first day of the course
  • Certificate of attendance at the end of the course
  • Teachers are qualified to teach their native language to non-native speakers
  • Levels offered: A1 (beginner) to B2 (upper intermediate)

Activities and excursions

Alongside language lessons, students take part in a full programmeof cultural, sporting and recreational activities in the afternoons and evenings. All activities are compulsory and fully supervised.

Example of a one-week programme:

This summer, we are delighted to offer a specialised filmmaking workshop, in collaboration with ESMA, one of France’s leading visual arts schools, renowned for training internationally acclaimed film and animation professionals and directors. This workshop is aimed at young people curious about the world of cinema and filmmaking, who wish to immerse themselves in the creative process and bring characters and stories to life.

This programme is open to participants with a beginner’s level of French (A1/A2).

Double or triple room with one or more participants of a different nationality and the same gender, shared bathroom, full board

Breakfast and dinner are taken with the host family. Lunches on weekdays are taken in the school canteen. Students receive a packed lunch provided by the family for the Saturday excursion and have lunch with the family on Sunday.

Travel time to school: between 5 and 30 minutes on foot, by tram or by bus

Host families take the students to school and collect them after activities every day. Staying with a host family is a great opportunity for students to discover the French way of life and practise French during meals. Students must respect their host family’s customs.

The student residence, Artemisia Lorraine, offers unique facilities and amenities: spacious communal areas, a cafeteria and fully equipped studios for three teenagers. Each studio has an en-suite bathroom and air conditioning.

All meals are taken in the junior centre’s canteen.

  • Montpellier Airport or railway stations (St-Roch and Sud de France)

Transfers:

  • Transfers from Montpellier station or airport are included in the accommodation price and arranged by the host family for arrivals between 8.00 am and 10.00 pm. Outside these times, transfer fees will be charged.

Note: please do not book your travel tickets until we have confirmed your stay.

Permission to go out

With a host family:

After afternoon and evening activities, students must return to their host family. When the school does not organise evening or Sunday activities, students must stay with their host family, regardless of their age.

Arrival is scheduled for Sunday and departure for Saturday. Classes start every Monday.

Public holiday: 14 July (no lessons will be held, but an activity will be organised instead).
