The Erasmus Plus mobility programme

Mobility programmes implemented by the European Union offer a unique opportunity for EU members to acquire professional experience in England. We can organise your placement for you, enabling you to do an internship in the field you study at university, while being subsidised by the European Union.

This programme is aimed at students over 18 years of age who have an intermediate level in English. These programmes can last from 4 to 26 weeks.

We have established partnerships with many companies in Brighton, from small family companies to large multinationals. Even if the latter may be “prestigious” on a CV, be aware that you will certainly have more interesting tasks to fulfill in a small or medium sized company. Interactions are more personal and interns gain a better overview of the overall operations of a company.

Please note that we guarantee a placement in your domain, but not in a particular company.

Tasks and working conditions can be very varied, depending on the business and the participant. Some companies ask their interns to work independently, while others prefer to supervise them.

The companies are located in Brighton itself or nearby. If you choose to book accommodation through us, we will find you a host family as close as possible to your host company.

In order for your internship to take place in the best possible conditions and that you are able to carry out the tasks required of you, your level of English must be sufficient. The minimum required level is B1 or intermediate.

If you need a language refresher, we recommend that you start your stay in England with an intensive English course. Our programme English in Bournemouth will help you to make rapid improvement in the language in just a few short weeks.

Participants must be members of the European Union and have a minimum level of intermediate (B1) in English. Our partner is responsible for evaluating your level of English with a test and a phone interview, which will determine the level of internship you can apply for.

The duration of the internship must be a minimum of 3 weeks, to 6 months maximum.

Participants must be aged at least 16 years at the start of the internship.

Internships are unpaid. The company may eventually compensate travel costs but this is not consistent.

Before departure, our partner is responsible for:

  • Evaluating your level of English
  • Selecting potential companies
  • Arranging a telephone interview between the intern and the company, if necessary
  • Filling out the required documents if the internship is a part of the Leonardo or Erasmus programme

During the internship, you will receive:

  • An orientation session which explains how to live and work in England
  • Constant supervision and intervention in the case of any problems
  • An internship contract, a participation certificate and other useful documents
  • A programme of sociocultural activities and excursions
  • A 24 hour emergency number

After the internship , your experience is approved by obtaining an internship certificate.

Host Families

To help you achieve the best possible internship experience, we are also able to offer you accommodation with a host family in Brighton  which you can book for part of or all of your placement.

Staying with an English host family will allow you to fully experience English culture and throw yourself in at the deep end.

Our hosts are carefully selected for their hospitality and quality of housing which fits the national norm. The rooms are cleaned and the linen and towels are changed at least once a week. The participant will have a key to the house and the host will be available to offer help and advice so that the participant feels at ease.

You will be in an single room and can choose either full board or half board.

Dates & registration deadline

The registration deadline is 6 weeks before your departure (8 weeks for level 3 courses).

Please note that certain sectors may require a longer period of time, so please prepare your course as early as possible to ensure that you receive a placement that best suits your objectives.

Registration procedures

After sending our online registration form and paying the required deposit, we will ask you to send us the following documents (word format) :

  • A cover letter in English
  • A certificate of good conduct / extract from the criminal record (to be requested from the commune for Belgians, from the town hall for French citizens).
  • A detailed list of your 3 choices of domains, in order of preference

Procedure

On receipt of payment, we are able to quickly confirm if you are accepted onto the programme.

You will have an interview via telephone or Skype with our partner to verify your level of English, then with several potential companies who will confirm your placement or not. It is therefore possible that you will have several interviews before being accepted by a company.

Once the placement is confirmed, you will receive all the company’s details and information on your position, in general in the 4 weeks leading up to the start of your internship. You will also receive information on accommodation after the placement, if you booked through Easy Languages.

If you are not accepted by the companies, we will reimburse you the total amount paid.

If after arriving and you have been working for at least 2 weeks, and it does not suit your needs, you can inform our partner on location who will look for another placement.
