South Bank is a dynamic and trendy neighborhood at the heart of London’s cultural scene.

Between cultural visits to London’s must-see sites such as Westminster, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Oxford Street, Covent Garden… and sports or recreational activities to relax, this stay is a must for anyone wanting to discover London while benefiting from a secure environment.

The courses take place on the site of the famous London South Bank University.

General information

  • 20 lessons of 45 minutes each per week, totaling 15 hours of classes per week
  • Classes take place in the morning or the afternoon.
  • All course materials are included and distributed to the students on their first day of class.
  • The classes are international: maximum 17 students per class.
  • The courses are led by qualified and experienced teachers. On the first day, a level test is conducted to form groups suited to each participant’s level.
  • The courses emphasize oral practice to develop fluency and self-confidence. Teachers ensure the participation of everyone.
  • On the last day of the program, students receive a level certificate attesting to their progress.

The program includes:

  • 6 half-days and 6 evenings per week
  • 1 full-day excursion (for stays of a minimum of 2 weeks)

Examples of activities:

  • Cultural: visits to different neighborhoods of London (Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Westminster, Notting Hill, St Paul’s…), museums (British Museum, Tate Modern, Natural History Museum…)
  • Recreational: treasure hunt, theater workshop, disco, karaoke, movie, talent show…
  • Sports: football, mini-Olympics, rounders, ping pong…

All activities are supervised by the school’s staff.

Optional activities and excursions may be offered on-site.

Here is an example of a 3-week program (typical schedule given as an example and subject to change):

Residence – McLaren House

he residence is located just a stone’s throw away from the main university building where the classes are held and where students have their meals.

  • It consists of apartments for 5, 8, or 10 students
  • Each student has an individual bedroom with an en-suite bathroom
  • The rooms are equipped with a wardrobe, a desk, and a chair
  • Each apartment has a common living room
  • A large common room is also available on the ground floor, with space for reading, board games, a ping pong table, and foosball

Meals (full board)

The meals are served in the large campus cafeteria which is on two floors:

  • Breakfast: continental with juice, coffee or tea, toast, cereals, and fruit
  • Lunch and dinner: 2 dishes to choose from among 3 options, one of which is vegetarian

Practical information:

  • Travel time to school: a very short walk (2 minutes)
  • Bed linen provided
  • Towels/hand towels not provided
  • Wi-Fi access
  • Laundry (paid service): washing (£2.50), drying (£1.30)
  • 24/7 supervision

The cleaning of the rooms is done once a week, provided that the rooms are well-organized. The cleaning of the common areas is done daily.

Attention: In case of loss of keys, the replacement fee is £190.

Visa Information

For European citizens:

Entry conditions to the UK since 01/01/2021

  • Under 6 months stay

EU citizens can travel to the UK without a visa if their stay does not exceed 6 months. They must carry a passport valid for the duration of their stay.
